This project featured several different elements of beautiful Antique Recycled French Oak, from our total works portfolio.
The outside of the home featured 15 Antique, Recycled French Oak Posts, across 4 different sizes. From 100×100, to 150×150, 175×175, and finally, some 6.0m long, 200x200s.
The posts came from our huge parcel of 55m3 of Antique Recycled French Oak, which we sourced back in 2012. This was the original “granary Oak”, as featured on our main page, and also used extensively in many projects across Australia (e.g. Hunters Hill, Balgowlah, Grounds of The City), Hong Kong (Ooh Laa), and Singapore (Red Wing), to name just a few.
This granary was built over 225 years ago, making the wood somewhere over 325 years old!
Also featured is the Front Entry Gate, an impenetrable, yet subtle piece, inviting the visitor to come and see more of the bespoke finished of the home. This gate was designed by our staff, working in conjunction with the owner.
The ‘piece de resistance’ is the custom, a world one-of, twin front door set. Made from 5 different materials; Antique Recycled French Oak, laminated glass, blacksmith hand-made steel features and grills, zinc “pyramid” inserts, and antique black, brass door furniture. This door set is 2750 high, 1450 wide, 60mm thick, and was made in its frame. It is as close to perfect as we can create.
Delivered in 2 stages, firstly the frame, to be set into the house frame, carefully covered until months later. Then, just before the Clients moved in, the builder’s doors were removed, our joiners returned to site, and finished the door set, by simply removing the builder’s doors and replacing and adjusting to perfection, these magnificent doors. The glass is also insulated from the steel grills!
We worked for a few years with the owners on this project, and we know they are very happy with the finished result.
One of our favourite, very hands-on projects. For your own bespoke project, enquire with us at [email protected].
